WAITING FOR THE LORD

WAITING FOR THE LORD

Psalms 27:13-14

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Waiting is sometimes a hard concept to tackle. We have to wait for test results, wait in lines, wait for our next vacation. We just finished Christmas and we see through our kids how hard it is to wait to open gifts. The waiting can seem so long and sometimes cause a lot of anxiousness. The flip side to this is that we live in a world that we don’t have to wait for much on a day-to-day basis, we can look up almost any question on our phone and find the answers instantly, heat up our food in seconds. By tracking our loved ones on driving apps to see when they will be home takes the waiting away. We are told to wait but live in a world full of technology that helps us not have to wait.

I find myself often in prayer and discussion with God and know that I must wait on His timing. His timing is always perfect, just not my timing. Most often this type of waiting is on big life decisions, which makes it even harder. Sometimes it seems like we may never hear the answer.

The Hebrew word for “wait” is quavah, which means to plait, like the intertwining of hair or a rope. Waiting on the Lord is not a passive thing. It means to intertwine our lives with Him. Every decision, every circumstance, every part of our life becomes wrapped so intrinsically together with the Lord that we are one.

The challenge of waiting on God is the ability to keep hoping when the nevers of life bombard us-when the minutes, hours, days, and years tick away without the answers to our pleas.

I recently read this statement:  Waiting—-It’s the faith to hang on to the Father on the long road when all human reason tells us to give up.   Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it’s the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Whatever it is you are waiting for-no matter how long you must wait-you can trust the father to lead you. And you can know for absolute certain that He has your very best interest in mind.

Blessings,

Pastor Jordan

Oh Jordan, this is so well said! The longer I live, the more I am acquainted with the “waiting”. My head knows that “God is in the wait…” and you would think I would be better at it by now. lol. I have had times that I wished he would just send me an email update!
Thank you for all you do for us…
