Understanding Full Surrender

Understanding Full Surrender

Throughout our lives with Christ, we sometimes begin to forget that we are called to continually surrender the details of our lives.  We all remember that moment when we gave our lives to the Lord and surrendered it all, but as we walk through our day-to-day lives we begin to take back things that we once fully surrendered.  I am not necessarily saying we are falling back into our sinful ways, but I am referring to those daily things that we take for granted.  Maybe it is the busy schedule, the financial decisions, the decision of where your child is going to school or even simply the plan for your day.  When we keep taking all of these things back into our own hands we forget who actually is in control.  Each day we are to surrender even the smallest mundane detail to God. Allowing him to be in the small details of life allows Him to move the larger details later on.  This week I have been seeking scripture for this area in my life.  As I have been seeking scripture I have been writing down the verses listed below. I decided to share them with all of you today because I am sure we all need the reminder of what full surrender looks like no matter how long we have been on our walk with the Lord.

  • Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
  • Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
  • Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. James 4:10
  • Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
  • But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22

May you be blessed in the full surrender this week!
