Devotional – 11/19/20

“I will thank you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.  I will be filled with joy because of you.  I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.”  Psalm 9:1-2

This particular year requires that I cook a turkey.  It won’t be pretty.  It may not be ugly, but I can promise you that it will not look like any turkey advertisement you may have seen in the last few weeks.  My sister’s turkey, however, will look like a picture.  It never falls apart, it’s always browned just right.  At her house, there will be china.  More than likely there will paper plates at my house. You know, the ones with the big picture of a colorful turkey in the middle.

At our home, as in many of yours, there will be conversations about our gratefulness.  We will pray prayers of Thanksgiving.  God loves to hear us thank Him.  He takes great pleasure in receiving our thanks and our love.  He cares about everything that affects our lives.

There’s an old song that shares these words:

“In the good times, praise His name.

In the bad times, do the same.

In everything, give thanks.”

Throughout the seasons of our lives, those that are good as well as those that are difficult, we can be filled with joy because of the love, mercy, and grace of the Most High God.

Remember that God loves the praise of his people.

Pastor Bill and I wish all of you a great week of Thanksgiving.  Our prayer is always for God’s provision and protection for you, His people.  When we sit down at our table on Thanksgiving with a turkey that may or may not be cooked all the way through, you can count on our prayers.  Your love poured out over us has been a gift we can never repay.  We love you.

Enjoy your turkey.  Whatever it looks like.

Pastor Danene
