It didn’t start out as a Ministry. Actually, in a way it is a “side” ministry. It started as a caring note as a text on my phone. It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving when one of our friends had a medical emergency. We were leaving on Wednesday to be with friends, that we managed to do every year for many years.
I talked to the wife and said I feel terrible leaving you at a time like this, but what I told her is that every day I will text you and say I am praying for you. I don’t want you to reply or respond back to me. Just know that when you get my text note that I am praying for both of you. On her end she said that she would get that beep and knew I was praying. What a comfort that was to her. The blessings I received were incredible. It wasn’t long before someone else needed the daily prayer, and the beep had the same effect on her. I always said no reply needed or requested. I kept slowly adding to my list. But most fell off my list after they were well. I added some family too, and after a while, it would get out of hand, and I would take more off the list.
In 2018 Franklin Graham came to town. One of our friends went with us and she had a private reception invite. Private with 300 people and she could have a total of 4 people. We were ecstatic. In his sermon, one of the things Dr. Graham said was,” use all the technology you can to reach others for Christ.” That went right straight to my heart! It gave me encouragement to keep sending my care notes.
Now in 2023 I send 11,000 care texts yearly. Insane, isn’t it? Recently I asked those that are currently receiving my care texts do you forward to others? Oh, my goodness. The reply was overwhelming. So out of the one care note I send, 75 other care texts go out to others daily. Use technology to reach others for Jesus.
I send the notes early in the morning. Early, usually between 4:00-5:00 am. There have been a handful that have said they love the notes, but could you send them later? Maybe at 9:00 am? Sorry, no! By 9:00 I have moved on into my day. Simply put-that doesn’t work for me, and my early morning sends. For me, I would wait to send the later notes and forget to send. Those fell off my list very early.
Mathew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
One person told me that for the first time the notes had brought her close to her brothers. Another said I’m not a techie, I don’t know how to do this. Everyone that knows me knows I’m not a techie either. Hold down on the note and forward comes up. Send to Text! Easy. I send to myself first, then forward to others. Some said I didn’t even consider forwarding to others but will start. Each one of those that are forwarding has started their own Ministry. Thank you, Jesus! It is a Ministry. It is a Ministry. It is a Ministry.
God’s Blessings pouring out on all of you,
Pastor Wanda
