SFNAZ Announcments

The Summer Devotional, Reflecting God is now at the information desk.

SERVE SUNDAY ~ May 19th – 9:30

Serve Sunday is an opportunity to love our neighbors in a big way.  We’re taking Jesus’ love to our streets and neighborhood.  That means we need to show up earlier and in your work clothes.  There will be donuts and coffee at 9:30 and we’ll all get our assignments.  From there we’ll hit the streets and clean up several yards close by.  Guess what?  We have some projects that will take place right here on campus, so if you don’t have the strength for yard work, come anyway.  We have something for you to do.  We’ll be back at the church for lunch at noon to share stories about the way God used our ministry to others.

MEMORIAL DAY ~ May 27

The office will be closed Monday, May 27.

 SHOES THAT GROW FUNDRAISER ~

There are a couple of ways you can donate to this fundraiser.  You can mark your check “Shoes”, text the dollar amount and “shoes” to 84321, or on Sunday May 19th we will be selling fudge for $10 a container and the proceeds will go to Shoes That Grow. You won’t want to miss out on the best fudge in town, and you are also helping children get a pair of these wonderful shoes.

MISSIONS CORNER

Faith Promise

Thank you for your participation in Faith Promise this year! 40 Faith Promise pledge cards were turned in and over $37,000 was pledged for Missions this year!  Thank you for helping us meet our annual Missions budget of $60,000!

 District Missions Convention

At the District Missions Convention, NMI President, Pastor Chris Clemens gave his final report as he stepped down from the presidency.

Pastor Dan Lewis was elected as our new District NMI President. Speaking to the District Assembly by video, Tim Eby from South Africa gave a wonderful report of all the exciting things happening and updates on his District.

District Project – Eurasia

Your District NMI is excited to share with you that it has been in conversation with leadership throughout Eurasia in an effort to shift our District Project focus to that region.  Our desire this time is to offer multiple project options that would attract different interests and passions in this part of the world.  One of these projects is the Open Door Foundation (ODF) in Bucharest, Romania.  The ODF operates a shelter and provides care for women and children who are survivors of human trafficking. Along with the shelter they provide counseling, job training, and help secure medical and legal assistance.  As of last December, they we’re working with 67 survivors, with and without children.  NMI President, Chris Clemens discovered they were in desperate need of a trustworthy van.  Therefore, a donation of $40,000 from District Project funds was given to ODF for the purchase of a reliable van.

Monica Boseff was our keynote speaker at the end of the convention. Monica operates the Open Door Medical Foundation. She shared with us how ODF was able to rescue these girls and shared some stories of their recovery.  Her stories were heartfelt and inspirational as she shared how God met the needs of the girls and the needs of the shelter to meet those needs.

You can find more interesting facts and inspirational stories of how God is meeting the needs of missions through the Nazarene Church around the world in the Northwest District app.
