Put On Love
So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.” (Colossian 3:12-14 from the Message) In the midst of this election week, with votes still…

Out the Window
This past week our view out the window changed quickly. One day it was sunny and slightly warm for the season, the next it was a winter wonderland. In our home, the view out the window has a different perception for me versus my husband, Chris. When he sees snow he is like a small child getting a gift that has fallen from the sky, and when I see the snow it is like an oppressive heavy coat I have…
Give Thanks
Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son. And now, let the weak say, “I am strong, let the poor say, “I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us.” Give thanks. We are entering a season of many opportunities to give thanks to the Holy One. Wherever we find ourselves today, whatever we feel, whatever we need- we first of all need to…

Mask or No Mask
I am sure the title of this devotional caught your eye in a way that it wouldn’t have a year ago. You see the way we think about things is affected by our life experiences. A year ago in the month of October, you may have been thinking this title of my devotional was about the upcoming outreach event we are having for this season. Although at this moment in time we have all heard the debates around “mask or…

For the Lord has Spoken
8 He will swallow up death forever. The LORD God will wipe tears from every face; he will remove his people’s disgrace from off the whole earth, for the LORD has spoken. (Isaiah 25:8 CEB) This passage comes from the Old Testament Lectionary reading for this week. During the tumultuous days we find ourselves in, this verse stands as a good reminder of God’s role and promises in the big picture. First God “will swallow up death forever.” Modern culture…
