Devotional – September 24, 2020

We are going to be privileged this Sunday morning to hear a message from David and Rhonda Ackerman.  Their ministry/mission credentials are impressive.

David has written several books, including the New Beacon Bible Commentary on the books of 1,2 Timothy and Titus.  Rhonda has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Compassionate Ministries.

Bill and I had the privilege to pastor with them in Colorado.  Our churches were close together and we found ourselves often at common meetings and retreats.  When we moved to Spokane, we realized that this is where David grew up.  It is always interesting to me how the Nazarene roots go deep as well as wide.

Many of you remember David’s parents, Dan and Dorothy who were part of Spokane First Church for many years.  Prior to coming to SFNAZ, the Ackerman family served at Crestline Church of the Nazarene while raising their family.

Connections are important, and David and Rhonda are connected directly to our church family.  If we do the math, Bill and I first crossed paths with them 26 years ago.  The family legacy in Spokane goes back many more years than 26.

Connections are also important in that David and Rhonda will be able to “connect” us to an arm of the Church that most of us will never experience first hand.

Connections make a difference in our Faith Promise giving.  We have our family and church connections with David and Rhonda; they have a voice to share with us what is going on in the Philippines.  Through their voice and vision for missions, we then have an important role in prayerfully giving to the work of the Kingdom that is going on around the world.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday as we gather together, worship with God’s people, and to hear about the Kingdom work of our church around the globe.

Please be in prayer about this Faith Promise Sunday and especially for the Ackerman’s as they share their story with us.  All of our work and giving still always connects with and because of Jesus.

Blessings.

Pastor Danene
