Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. Lamentations 3:22
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless. Matthew 9:36
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
When you hear compassion what are the first few words that pop into your mind? I asked the kids that question this week and they all had great answers. “Being nice”, “Being kind when you don’t want to”, “Giving someone something of yours because they need it more.”
Compassion comes in so many forms; listening to someone who needs to share. Giving a hug to someone in need. Taking on a big burden with a friend. Sharing a smile when you may not want to. Giving your time to volunteer at a non-profit.
Compassion comes in all sizes. We never know how sharing compassion may change someone’s day! For me, sometimes I am so emotionally exhausted that I enjoy just sitting and being the observer in life. It is usually then that I feel that nudge to go and talk to someone. Share a smile and some encouraging words. Think about how you can share compassion with someone this week. It might change their day or week.
Christ continuously modeled compassion, often at times when the stresses of ministering to all people and attending to an unpredictable group of disciples would have given most people.
Blessings,
Pastor Jordan
