Obedience

I must be one of those people that God gives special gifts too. A few years ago, we were given the Distinguished Service Award, here at Spokane First. About two weeks before it happened, I walked into the sanctuary, just me and God. I knew that we were getting this prestigious award.   I told my husband Wyatt first, and then I called Wayne, our son in Louisiana.  I said, “guess what? I know who is getting this award.” It was dead silence on the other end of the phone.  “Mom, who told you?” “No one,” I said. “Well, God told me.” My son was told about the award in hopes he could come home to celebrate with us.

There was a lady in the hospital from Spokane First. Pastor Bill went to visit with her. When he walked into the room, the lady was sitting up reading the newspaper, with her daughter sitting next to her bed. Pastor Bill said his usual, “my, look at you.” She told him that she was doing great and would be going home in a few days. The next day, I went to the hospital to visit her.   She and her daughter were making plans for her to discharge home. That sounded like great news, but the Holy Spirit was speaking to me. Getting louder by the minute. “Wanda, prepare her. Tell her about John 14:1-3.” It felt like my whole head was swimming. The longer I took, the more persistent He became.

The Holy Spirit was telling me to prepare her for her Heavenly home. I began to share with her, that when it is your time to go to your Heavenly home, God has Scripture just for you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, I told her. Don’t worry about it. Don’t be concerned about it. Don’t stew about it. Don’t give it a second thought. Jesus will take care of you. I followed the Holy Spirits leading and helped prepare her for when it was her time. She was in Heaven later that day. This has happened a few times. I thanked Jesus for giving me insight and for teaching me to be obedient. I can still hear those words from the Holy Spirit, “prepare her.” The Father never disappoints us. If we ask Him and seek Him, he will lead us.

I leave you with my favorite verse. John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.  2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Blessings,

Pastor Wanda
