I was watching this silly turkey from the deck of the parsonage. He was at the back of the church inside a fenced area and he couldn’t figure out how to get out. He started pacing back and forth for like 30 minutes. The rest of the group of turkeys went about their business looking for something to eat. Back and forth this turkey went. Finally, turkey #2 flew in to talk to turkey #1 and tell him how to get out. Back and forth our turkey went. I could almost hear the conversation! Turkey #2 said, “For crying out loud, all you have to do is fly to the top of the fence and you’re free.” It didn’t matter what turkey #2 said, turkey #1 kept pacing. It reminded me of my brother Johnny, he was a pacer. Drove me crazy, just like turkey #2. Turkey #2 got so frustrated with turkey #1 that he flew to top of the fence and joined the other turkeys looking for food. Finally, turkey #1 had enough pacing and flew out. He passed the top of the fence and went to the top of the shed.
How many times do we act like turkey #1? We stew, worry, and yes, we might pace. We tell our friends, but we don’t go to the source that helps us 24/7. It just gets us more worked up, and before we know it, we are in a dither. Just like turkey #1. You know what I mean? Jesus Christ neither sleeps nor slumbers. He cares for us!
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Jesus loves a relationship with his children. He wants to be involved in our lives. No one ever cares for me like Jesus!
God bless each and every one of you.
