What Do I Do With My Calendar?

What Do I Do With My Calendar?

I sit here looking at my November calendar.  It is not getting filled up at this point.  My calendar only has two places that are filled.  Awesome.  Here is where you can see the Holy Spirit actively at work.  My days get busier with soul names on the spaces.  Yes, I write the names down and what time I should be there.  I even write what I’m doing.  Visiting, praying or doing communion.   Actually those are the fun ones to do.  They are so excited that I am coming.  With one lady, it took me 2 times of not seeing her and I usually try to let the daughter know so she can be reminded of when I am coming.  The mom, looks forward to having communion, almost more than the visit.  She is almost in tears because I am there.  She forgets a lot of stuff.  She may not remember what she did for lunch, or who she spoke to, but for the moment we are excited to be together. She always knows me by name.  I might tell her a Bible story, and she can remember parts of it.  She is so sweet that you want to stay with her a few minutes extra.   Something comes on the intercom reminding everyone about a special party that she wants to attend, so I pack my stuff and move on.    Such an exciting time.   I pray you have some kingdom work on your calendar.  I pray you remember during these times, of who you are representing.

I move on to my next person, who hasn’t been able to attend a service at Spokane First for many years.  She is very sharp for being in her 90’s and we talk about a Bible story too.  She can’t see the words in her Bible, but she knows the story and helps me with it.  I have known her son and daughter in law for more years than I want to count, and we keep each other updated. She enjoys communion too.  The next ones to get a visit, there are two of them living in the same group home.  One of them is still sleeping, so we talk softly in another room and get caught up.  She is excited that I am there, and we decide to do communion next time we visit.  That’s ok.  I think she needed the visit most today.  It is a small group home and I know most of the ones there. I head to my car and make a couple phone calls.  I add more names to my calendar.   It will be filled before I know it.  Thank you for allowing me to visit those in our Church Family.  It is a nice place to be.  Not always easy but comfortable in doing Kingdom Work.

I leave you with the Scripture I shared with others this day! I love being the sheep of his pasture!

Psalm 100 1-3

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Blessings,

Pastor Wanda
